Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC)

MelaColl CMC Description

MelaCollTM is a trademark for MIKEM’s cellulose products and derivatives. Our MelaCollTM products include Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC or Hypromellose), Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC), Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose (HEMC) and Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC).

MelaColl Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is white or slightly yellow, odorless, tasteless, granular, or fibrous powder. Although it is insoluble in absolute ethanol, diethyl ether or acetone, our CMC products can be quickly dispersed in hot water at 80~90>℃ and dissolve rapidly after cooling. CMC aqueous solution is relatively stable at room temperature. However, when the temperature rises to a certain level, the solution will gel, and when the temperature drops below the critical temperature, the gel will turn into a solution.

Our CMC products perform excellently in wettability, dispersibility, adhesion, thickening, emulsification, water retention, film-forming, and grease resistance. The finished film has excellent resilience, flexibility,  and transparency. Our CMC products are widely used in tobacco, detergents, textiles, printing and dyeing, oil drilling, papermaking, food, coatings, pharmaceuticals, daily chemicals, construction, and other industries.
